I'm glad to see your still interested in staying, Shifter. As far as changing your characters . . . . I'm thinking about allowing all the weyrlings and dragonets advance to full dragonrider status, other than that, you shouldn't have to change anything. [/blockquote]

Okay, I wanna keep all my characters except Taminy. That's...
-Sr. Weyrwoman Akri of Violet Lunith with green Leaf -Weyrling L'rien of Broqn Quentifith -Weyrling Ay'en of Blue Zynsith with gold Liri -Ashrider Azelle of Ash Emberyth
That okay? If Akri can't be Weyrwoman, that's fine with me. And if you need any help setting things up, just shout!

Your four have been moved, Charm, as have yours, Shifter. Once I figure out what I'm going to do about the plot, I'll let you both know about the age changes and such. [/blockquote]

I want to keep my characters all of them. The list is in my signature.
However, and don't throw rocks at me for my saying this, but I really don't get/like the one account per character thing. If we have the list in our sig, isn't that enough? I hate having to keep track of who plays who and having to switch accounts for my characters to interact with each other (for example D'lain and R'din that re often seen together, or H'lak and L'san...) And why a main account? Where would we post with our main account? I can understand there being an ADMIN account for people to refer to, to list changes on the site, etc., but for me, who rarely uses the OOC board, I'd really have no use for an empty, characterless account. It'd only confuse people further, I think, since you have these randomly named accounts that serve no real use. And since our "empty account" names are usually the ones we use in the C-box, it's even more confusing as to who's who. I already constantly forget who plays who, I LOVE being able to track down ONE person's multiple characters/posts through ONE account and being able to refer to their sig to see who are their babies. I have enough things to keep track of as is without having to constantly click and follow links to remember who the shards plays Akri or N'lon or V'ake. Because no, I don't remember. And yes, I care, because when you look at "users active in the last 24 hours" and you see Dragoncharm, for example, well you know easily if the person you're playing with has been online or not. If I have an rp with L'san and L'rien and I want to see if L'rien's player's been online recently... Well, if charm has only logged in with Akri, I'll think that L'rien's player has been AWOL for a long time. Because I won't make the connection. It's also easier to keep track of activity. It's so simple to do an activity check and just post "I'm here" instead of having to post all your accounts. And if you just haven't been using an account in a little while because you're more inspired for one character and it looks like you've been inactive for a few weeks? Bye bye to that character's account, no matter what you've been plotting. I've seen accidents like that happen and it's really aggravating for the person who now has to go lobby for their account back. I don't always have the muse for all my characters to be in play at once, especially considering the limited number of options for them to play against and I'd hate to lose one just because it's been a month since I visited that account. Even if that character has a line or two on another one of my accounts.
So yeah, that was a little ranty, I'm sorry and I really don't mean to offend, it's just a format I'm not comfortable with.

Nobody's throwing stones, don't worry, Amie ^_^ I'm not sure what Obsi's plan is (And if I did I could probably tell you why she wants the multiple account thing) but she probably has a reason. I for one completely understand what you're saying - I often end up with more than one character of mine interactive with others in the same thread. Does that mean I'll have to change accounts and double post to be able to post both? No idea yet. But I'm okay with trying it out for a bit. But it's probably good to let Obsi say her reasons, too *pushes Obsi to front*

*is pushed to the front* Thank you, Charm.
First off, Amie, I agree with Charm. No one is going to throw stones at you. In fact, this is what I want! I want members of BOW to have say in what goes on in BOW.
I understand the reasoning for regular members to not have a 'home' (we'll just call it 'home' account, cause I can't think of a better word.) account. You're right, it would just take up space. So I agree, that I'll just keep my admin account, and go from there with my own multiple accounts. As for everyone else having multiple accounts. I'm on several other proboard sites that have the multiple accounts and I've seen that they run pretty smoothly. Yes, your right, you have to constantly check to see who is who, but that is why I would be adding a part to the character bio to tell who plays who.
Canaulia Weyr, when it was active, was the idea behind the multiple account. Granted, like I stated above, we wouldn't be doing the main (there's the word I was looking for) account with no characters on it, but please take a look at the very bottom, above the Active Users in the Past 24 Hours. That bar of colors, that would be how it is. Every account with a character on it, would be part of a group. Like it was here, but there was always the problem of who got what color after they created that second character.
As for multiple posts, that is the largest down side to this idea. You would have to post multiple times to get all your characters in one thing. Even I would have to do it.
So here's the thing: Should we have multiple accounts? Yay or Nay - Please post within your next posts. [/blockquote]

Why not just have colours for Admin, regular riders/members and staff either IC or OOC? Like for example you have one colour, whoever is Weyrwoman has a specific colour, whoever is Weyrling Master or Candidate Master or another important position like that, never mind if they also have other characters, has a second colour and then everyone else gets a basic colour. We don't have to have everyone being a different colour. Colours should just denote high rank so that staff is easy to find. At least that's my opinion.
As for having to check someone's bio to see who plays them, I still hate doing that. I really, really like just being able to look at the bottom of the post to see who everyone's characters are and therefore also see who else the person can bring in. For example, if I'm RPing with you as K'eld, I know that you can bring in V'ake, if we want a third Weyrling in the equation or O'sin, if we need an older rider to settle things.
I was on a site where they demand one character per account and I hated the experience. It was fine, as long as I had characters who didn't interact, but as soon as I had a pair that were often together, it was really, really annoying. The thing is, the Weyr is a small, contained environment. Our characters do all know each other and interact frequently with each other and with other players' characters. It's different where you have a site with a bigger world (or even bigger Weyr) where your own characters don't see each other much. In my case, as I said, I hve some character pairs that are often seen together and I would despise having to do five account switches to be able to get a post done. It would cut down my characters interactions with each other, shorten my post length considerably and generally make me an unhappy person.
So I vote a resounding NAY. I agree with there being some kind of admin or staff account, if it makes things easier to run the site, to be able to have NPCs (one site I'm at has a Narrator account for NPCs and stuff) or for people to know who to talk to in case of problems, but I don't agree for it to be applied to everyone.
That said, thank you for the lack of stones. Also thank you for correcting the expression. I actually spend about 3 minutes staring blankly at the screen trying to remember the expression "throwing/casting stones". My English is so gone -.- Soooooo gone. But that's another rant XP.

Hm..Before I vote, I'd like to suggest something.
Amie, you were talking about seeing one account and not associating it with another owned by the same person? And Obsi showed that color bar thing? Well, what if, instead of the ranks as the colors, reach member had their own color? And each of their account names would be the same color. Now, I know that doesn't solve the rest of the problems, but it would clear up some of the confusion ^_^

Still doesn't solve the problem of having to switch accounts if ever I want my characters to interact. And if this site should get bigger than say 15 people, we're going to start to run out of colour variations that a) come out well on the blue background and b) are distinct at a glance. Between the palest blue of Delain's colours and the white, to me, there's not all that much difference. Also, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of having multiple accounts? I mean the whole point of having the multiple accounts was to have greenriders have their names in green, blueriders in blue, etc. Having each member have their own colour... What's the point of the multiple accounts, then?
My main problem with multiple accounts, anyway, is the having to switch accounts. I hate doing that. Even with the option "post with this account" up top, because my computer refuses to remember passwords anymore, even if I tell it to a thousand times, so I have to type in username + password every single time I want to post with a different character.

Hey, was just a suggestion.
I guess you've got a point, though >.> Okay, so don't do that. I guess - sorry Obsi - but I'll have to say nay as well. I think it might just end up too confusing and hard, as Amie says. *shrugs* I'm still open for trying it out for a bit, but I'm not sure it will work.

Ok, so i just go on and so far..... ive lost my mind. SO, the only thing i can say is NAY on the multiple account thing because it would be confusing on my part. I like the one main account with you characters as you sig, it makes things easy on the mind.
And Amie, i don't think you ranting is a problem either, i think you make a vary good point.

So that's two Nay's so far. Seeing as it was my idea, I would have to say Yay cause I believe it would be helpful to the board. Of course, my vote only counts for one person, not multiple like most would try to in order to get their way.
I understand everything everyone is saying. Of course, the multiple accounts is simply a suggestion that I thought would work, but if everyone is against it, then I see no reason to continue this poll, but I will leave it up until the 10th/ [/blockquote]
